Place + Experience + Location
The location I chose for my images is Davis Island around the airport and the dog park. Davis Island has always been one of my favorite spots in Tampa. I am a Tampa native and have been going to the island since I was young. Most of the time my family visited to watch the Fireworks every 4th of July. I think it's still one of the best kept secrets for the best views of fireworks. Once I started college the Island and specifically the dog park became a frequent place for me to run and picnic with my friends.
In this photo series, I am trying to highlight some of the best locations around the airport and park. In my opinion, many of the beautiful things about the area become taken for granted by its residents, including me. I went to the park during sunset and spent hours there experiencing the beauty of observing the park and it's inhabitants. By slowing my pace throughout my time there, I was able to savor every detail that I would not have noticed otherwise.
Davis Island feels like a friendly and warm place that friends, couples, families, and happy pets occupy, especially at this time. Many people were out for their nightly walk. This particular evening was cooler than usual and families frolicked throughout the park. Not only did the park feel inviting but so did the people who enjoyed it. The way I chose to shoot these photos was with the intention of giving each photo a story. Collectively, I wasn't pushing a specific theme, but individually I wanted each photo to stand on its own merit.
